What is Japonity?
Japonity is an independent, Tokyo-based discovery platform connecting the world with Japan’s best technology, startups, food, and innovation. We curate and introduce Japanese companies, products, and services to international businesses, investors, and buyers.
Our mission
Japan is home to world-class technology, craftsmanship, and innovation — yet much of it remains hidden from the global market. Language barriers, cultural differences, and limited international marketing have kept thousands of exceptional Japanese companies from reaching their global potential.
Japonity bridges this gap. We make it easy for the world to discover, understand, and connect with Japanese businesses.
What we do
- Curated editorial — In-depth articles on Japanese tech, SaaS, startups, food, and culture, published by our Editorial Team in Tokyo.
- Company directory — A searchable database of innovative Japanese companies organized by sector.
- Sourcing & EC catalogues — Filterable directories of what the world buys from Japan and where to buy Japanese food online.
- Business Matching — A paid service that connects international companies with vetted Japanese partners for trade, investment, and collaboration.
Who we serve
- International companies looking to source products or technology from Japan
- Investors and VCs seeking opportunities in the Japanese market
- Buyers and importers interested in Japanese food, goods, and services
- Japanese companies looking to expand overseas

Editorial standards
We hold ourselves to the standards described in our Editorial Policy, which covers:
- Source transparency — every figure traceable to an original, named source
- AI use disclosure — how we use generative AI for research and drafting, and where humans intervene
- Corrections policy — 48-hour correction window for factual errors, clearly marked
- Editorial separation — Business Matching introductions and editorial coverage are independent; companies do not pay for inclusion in articles
- Funding disclosure — what supports the publication
