Mitsuwa Marketplace (mitsuwa.com) is one of the largest Japanese supermarket chains in the U.S., originating from Yaohan USA (first U.S. store Torrance 1983) and reformed as Mitsuwa in 1998. It operates ~13-14 stores across Southern California, San Jose/San Diego, Chicago, New Jersey, Texas and Hawaii, open 365 days a year. Stores combine full Japanese grocery departments (fresh produce, seafood/sashimi, Wagyu and meat, deli, bakery, sake/beer) with on-site food courts/food halls featuring ramen, yakitori, sushi/nigiri and other Japanese vendors, plus party trays and online ordering. Signature items span ramen, Wagyu beef, nigiri sushi assortments, edamame and Japanese beer. It serves Japanese expatriates and broad mainstream audiences and continues expanding (new Cypress, CA store opened Nov 2025).
