Genkai Distillery on Iki Island, Nagasaki, has made barley shochu since 1900 in the birthplace of mugi shochu, using the WTO-protected Iki GI method of one part rice koji to two parts barley. Its 'Iki Gold' and Iki Super Gold expressions combine rice-koji sweetness with rich barley character drawn from spring water of Mount Takenotsuji. Iki Shochu is one of the few spirits worldwide with WTO origin certification. Genkai exports to the US via World Sake Imports and to Australia via Heigo and Sake Boutique.
