Kyoya Distillery, founded 1834 in Aburatsu, Miyazaki, is one of Kyushu's oldest shochu houses and now leads in Japanese craft gin while staying rooted in shochu. Yuzu Gin is built on a sweet-potato shochu base distilled via parallel double-fermentation in 800L terracotta pots, then vacuum-distilled with local botanicals including rare hyuganatsu and hebesu citrus, sansho and yuzu. It is imported to the US via Kome Collective / Vine Connections. The terroir-driven Miyazaki botanicals make it distinctive among Japanese gins.
