Nishi Shuzo, founded in 1845 in Hioki, Kagoshima, is one of the region's benchmark sweet-potato shochu makers, best known for its Hozan lineup including the fruity, aromatic Tomino Hozan. With over 170 years of history, the distillery is recognized nationwide as a quality standard for imo shochu and exports internationally. In the US it is imported by Mutual Trading Co. (Los Angeles) and distributed by New York Mutual Trading. Tomino Hozan uses gold-koji and select sweet potatoes for a smooth, sweet-fragrant profile.
